Dare I say, “Dead Wings”?

The Detroit Red Wings ended their 2026 season last night with a loss 8-1, on home ice.
The Wings’ goalie (Gibson) pulled himself halfway through the 2nd.
They got manhandled; by a team not making the playoffs, either.
I caught the 2nd period. Here’s my feelings.
I’ve never seen The Wings play so soft. They turned the puck over a million times. They lost nearly every puck battle. When they got battled off the puck, they would try and play cheap/emotional. No one looked in sync or having fun.
The Panthers played great. Lots of smiles. Lots of fun plays to watch. Looked like they were having a lot of fun. Good way to end the season.
The Red Wings are the most fun team to PLAY, right now. Every team wants to play The Wings. A roadtrip to Detroit is looked forward to. Opposing players can “pad the stats” and put on a show for an away crowd; get some good sleep that night too. Wild, coming from the days of opposing teams dreading to play in the D.
92, 93, 53 were only productive players for The Wings last night. All else were bad.
I love Patrick Kane but I think he’s a cancer and needs to go.
Everyone besides the three jersey numbers above are simply waste.
GM and Head Coach need to be let go and “C” needs to be traded.
The reason why The Wings are so soft is because there is NO CULTURE. HOCKEYTOWN IS GONE. They are not having fun. The chemistry is off in the locker room. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Dylan Larkin smile. It looks Kane is in a a lot pain when he moves on the ice. Finnie should never be sniffing the first two lines. It’s a good story for the media. Not a good story for The Wings. Pavel Datsyuk was 4th line his first year. He was the best player on the team. But, they were stacked. That’s how good teams are. And that’s how good teams win.
I ask one final time, where did Hockeytown Culture go?
Are we upon the “Dead Wings” times, again?
When will The Detroit Red Wings wake up, and change?
I guess we’ll see.
Rest Easy Detroit,
Trainer Mitchy
